Description

This rich and velvety hot fudge sauce is the perfect topping for ice cream, brownies, or just about any dessert. Made with simple pantry staples, it comes together in minutes and beats anything from the store.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup heavy cream

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick)

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional, for extra richness)


Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine heavy cream, butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Stir constantly until the butter is melted and the mixture starts to bubble.

  2. Whisk in the cocoa powder and salt until smooth and thick.

  3. Reduce heat to low and cook for 3–5 more minutes, stirring constantly.

  4. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract. Add chocolate chips, if using, and whisk until melted and smooth.

  5. Let cool slightly before serving. The sauce will thicken more as it cools.

  6. Store leftovers in a jar in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. Reheat before serving.


Notes

  • You can adjust the sweetness by using dark chocolate chips or reducing the sugar slightly.

  • Great for gifting! Pour into mason jars, let cool, and add a ribbon.

  • Reheat in the microwave in short intervals, stirring between each.
