Description

This Homemade Strawberry Sauce is a sweet and tangy topping made with fresh or frozen strawberries, perfect for pancakes, cheesecake, ice cream, and more.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 cups fresh or frozen strawberries, hulled and halved
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
  • 1 tbsp water (if using cornstarch)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice.
  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until strawberries release juices and soften, about 8–10 minutes.
  3. If a thicker sauce is desired, mix cornstarch and water in a small bowl and stir into the strawberry mixture.
  4. Continue cooking for another 2–3 minutes, until sauce thickens.
  5. Remove from heat and let cool. Sauce will thicken further as it cools.
  6. Serve warm or chilled over your favorite desserts or breakfast dishes.

Notes

  • For a smooth sauce, blend after cooking and strain to remove seeds.
  • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
  • Adjust sugar to taste depending on strawberry sweetness.
