Description

These homemade soft pretzel bites are golden, chewy, and buttery—perfect for snacking, game day, or serving with your favorite dips. They’re easy to make and taste just like the ones from the mall!

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups warm water (110°F to 115°F)

  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

  • 2/3 cup baking soda (for boiling)

  • 1 large egg (for egg wash)

  • Coarse sea salt (for topping)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, salt, and sugar. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.

  2. Add flour and melted butter. Mix and knead until a smooth dough forms (about 5-7 minutes).

  3. Cover and let rise in a warm spot for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  4. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.

  5. Cut dough into 6 pieces. Roll each piece into a rope and cut into 1-inch bites.

  6. In a large pot, bring 8 cups of water and baking soda to a boil.

  7. Drop pretzel bites into the boiling water (about 10 at a time) for 30 seconds. Remove and place on prepared baking sheets.

  8. Beat egg with 1 tbsp water to make an egg wash. Brush each bite and sprinkle with coarse salt.

  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.

  10. Serve warm with mustard, cheese sauce, or your favorite dip.

Notes

  • For a sweeter twist, skip the salt and sprinkle bites with cinnamon sugar after baking.

  • Pretzel bites are best enjoyed the same day but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
