Description

Soft, fluffy, and golden brown, these homemade dinner rolls are a comforting addition to any meal, perfect for soaking up sauces or enjoying with butter.


Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F/43°C)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened (plus more for brushing)
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add softened butter, eggs, and salt to the yeast mixture and stir to combine.
  3. Gradually add flour, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  6. Punch down the dough and divide it into 16 equal portions. Shape each portion into a ball and place on a greased baking dish or tray.
  7. Cover and let rise again for 30-40 minutes, or until puffy.
  8. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  9. Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until golden brown.
  10. Brush the tops with melted butter as soon as they come out of the oven for an extra soft and shiny finish.

  • Use honey instead of sugar for a richer sweetness.
