- 1 cup long-grain white rice
- 4 cups whole milk
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup heavy cream (optional, for extra creaminess)
Instructions
- In a large saucepan, combine the rice, water, and cinnamon stick. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
- Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 10 minutes or until the water is mostly absorbed.
- Add the milk, sugar, and salt. Stir well and bring to a gentle simmer over medium-low heat.
- Cook uncovered for 25–30 minutes, stirring frequently, until the mixture thickens and the rice is very tender.
- Remove from heat and stir in the ground cinnamon, vanilla extract, and heavy cream if using.
- Let the pudding cool slightly, then remove the cinnamon stick.
- Serve warm or chilled, garnished with a sprinkle of ground cinnamon if desired.
