- 1 loaf (16 oz) Hawaiian sweet bread, cubed
- 1 1/2 cups diced ham
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 6 large eggs
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp ground mustard (optional)
- 2 tbsp chopped green onions (optional)
Instructions
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and add cubed Hawaiian bread evenly in the bottom.
- Sprinkle diced ham and shredded cheese evenly over the bread cubes. Add green onions if using.
- In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and ground mustard until well combined.
- Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread, pressing down lightly to ensure all bread is soaked.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight for best results.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Remove strata from fridge and let sit at room temperature for 20 minutes.
- Bake uncovered for 45–55 minutes, or until golden brown and the center is set.
- Let rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Can be assembled the night before and baked fresh in the morning.
- Try adding sautéed spinach or mushrooms for extra veggies.
- Leftovers can be reheated and stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
