Description

Hanky Panky Appetizers are a savory, cheesy, and meaty bite-sized snack perfect for parties and game days. Featuring a combination of ground beef, sausage, and melted cheese on cocktail rye bread, they’re quick to prepare and always a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound ground pork sausage
  • 1 (16-ounce) package processed cheese (like Velveeta), cubed
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 loaf cocktail rye bread

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and sausage until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add cubed processed cheese to the meat mixture and stir until melted and well combined.
  4. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, and red pepper flakes if using.
  5. Arrange cocktail rye bread slices on a baking sheet.
  6. Spoon the meat and cheese mixture evenly over each slice of bread.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the tops are bubbly and slightly crispy.
  8. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

  • You can freeze assembled appetizers before baking and reheat directly from frozen.
  • Use spicy sausage for added kick.
  • Mini bagels or French bread slices can be used as substitutes for cocktail rye.
