- 1 pound ground pork sausage
- 1 (16-ounce) package processed cheese (like Velveeta), cubed
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 loaf cocktail rye bread
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and sausage until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
- Add cubed processed cheese to the meat mixture and stir until melted and well combined.
- Stir in Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, and red pepper flakes if using.
- Arrange cocktail rye bread slices on a baking sheet.
- Spoon the meat and cheese mixture evenly over each slice of bread.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the tops are bubbly and slightly crispy.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
Notes
- You can freeze assembled appetizers before baking and reheat directly from frozen.
- Use spicy sausage for added kick.
- Mini bagels or French bread slices can be used as substitutes for cocktail rye.
