- 1 9-inch pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 cup diced cooked ham
- 1 cup shredded Swiss or cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 4 large eggs
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
- 1 tablespoon chopped chives or green onions (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Place the pie crust into a 9-inch pie plate. Prick the bottom with a fork and prebake for 8–10 minutes. Let cool slightly.
- Sprinkle ham and shredded cheese evenly over the bottom of the crust.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cream, salt, pepper, and nutmeg until well combined.
- Pour the egg mixture over the ham and cheese in the crust.
- Sprinkle with chives or green onions if using.
- Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the center is just set and lightly golden on top.
- Let quiche cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Quiche can be made a day ahead and reheated in the oven.
- Use other cheeses like Gruyère, mozzarella, or feta for variation.
- Add sautéed vegetables like spinach or mushrooms for extra flavor.
