Description

Gyeran Bap is a simple and comforting Korean dish made with steamed rice, a fried egg, and savory seasonings. It’s quick to prepare and perfect for breakfast or a light meal.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup cooked white rice
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp butter (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp roasted sesame seeds
  • 1 green onion, finely chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat a small pan over medium heat and add butter (if using) or a bit of oil.
  2. Crack the egg into the pan and fry until the white is set and the yolk is cooked to your liking.
  3. Place the hot cooked rice into a serving bowl.
  4. Drizzle sesame oil and soy sauce over the rice.
  5. Top the rice with the fried egg.
  6. Sprinkle sesame seeds and chopped green onion over the top.
  7. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Mix everything together before eating for best flavor.

Notes

  • You can add a dash of gochujang (Korean chili paste) for some heat.
  • Use leftover rice for a quicker meal.
  • Top with kimchi or seaweed flakes for extra flavor.
