Description

Ground Turkey Sweet Potato Casserole is a hearty and wholesome dish made with lean ground turkey, tender sweet potatoes, and a blend of savory spices, all baked into a comforting and nutritious casserole.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 2 medium sweet potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (optional for a warm flavor)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and garlic and sauté for 2–3 minutes until soft.
  3. Add ground turkey and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon.
  4. Stir in salt, pepper, paprika, thyme, and cinnamon (if using).
  5. Add diced sweet potatoes and stir to combine. Cook for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Transfer mixture to the prepared baking dish and cover with foil.
  7. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until sweet potatoes are tender.
  8. Remove foil, sprinkle cheese on top if using, and return to oven for 5–7 minutes until melted.
  9. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve warm.

Notes

  • Substitute ground turkey with chicken or beef if preferred.
  • Add spinach or kale for extra greens.
  • Makes a great make-ahead meal—just reheat before serving.
