Description

Juicy, flavorful ground chicken tacos seasoned with classic spices and served with your favorite toppings. A quick and lighter twist on taco night!


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth or water
  • 8 corn or flour tortillas
  • Toppings: shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, diced avocado, sour cream, lime wedges, chopped cilantro

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add diced onion and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Stir in minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  4. Add ground chicken and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and cooked through.
  5. Sprinkle in chili powder, cumin, paprika, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir well to coat the chicken evenly.
  6. Add tomato paste and chicken broth (or water) to keep the mixture moist. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until the flavors meld.
  7. Warm tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave until pliable.
  8. Spoon the ground chicken mixture onto tortillas. Top with shredded lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, avocado, sour cream, and a squeeze of fresh lime juice. Garnish with cilantro.

Notes

  • Swap ground chicken for turkey or lean ground beef if you prefer.
  • Add black beans or corn to the filling for extra texture.
  • For more heat, add diced jalapeños or a splash of your favorite hot sauce.
  • Use lettuce wraps instead of tortillas for a low-carb option.
