- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup tomato sauce
- 1/4 cup water
- 8 taco shells or small tortillas
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro (optional)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onion and cook until soft, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- Add ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon.
- Drain any excess fat from the skillet.
- Stir in chili powder, cumin, paprika, oregano, cayenne pepper (if using), salt, and pepper.
- Add tomato sauce and water. Stir to combine and simmer for 5-7 minutes until mixture thickens.
- Warm taco shells or tortillas according to package instructions.
- Fill each shell with a portion of the beef mixture.
- Top with shredded lettuce, cheese, diced tomatoes, sour cream, and cilantro as desired.
- Serve immediately and enjoy.

- You can prepare the taco meat in advance and reheat before serving.
- Feel free to add other toppings like avocado, jalapeños, or salsa.
