Description

This classic green bean casserole is a creamy, comforting side dish that’s perfect for the holidays—or any day you’re craving something warm and hearty. Made with tender green beans, a rich mushroom sauce, and crispy fried onions on top, it’s always a crowd favorite.

Ingredients

  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup

  • 3/4 cup milk

  • 1/8 tsp black pepper

  • 4 cups cooked green beans (fresh or canned, drained)

  • 1 1/3 cups crispy fried onions, divided

  • Optional: 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (for a cheesy twist)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. In a large mixing bowl, stir together the cream of mushroom soup, milk, black pepper, and 2/3 cup of the fried onions.

  3. Add the green beans and stir until well coated.

  4. Pour the mixture into a 9×9-inch or similar-sized baking dish.

  5. Bake uncovered for 25 minutes.

  6. Remove from oven, stir the casserole, then sprinkle the remaining fried onions on top.

  7. Return to oven and bake for another 5 minutes, or until the onions are golden and crispy.

  8. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

  • You can use fresh green beans—just blanch them in boiling water for 5–6 minutes and drain well.

  • Add shredded cheddar cheese if you like it extra creamy and cheesy.

  • Double the recipe for larger gatherings.
