Tender carrots coated in a glossy, buttery-sweet glaze make these glazed carrots a simple yet elegant side dish perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 500 g carrots, peeled and sliced into rounds or sticks
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp honey or maple syrup
- 1 tsp brown sugar (optional)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (optional for garnish)
Instructions
- Heat butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat until melted and bubbling.
- Add carrots, season with salt and pepper, and cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they begin to soften and lightly brown.
- Stir in honey and brown sugar if using. Mix to coat the carrots evenly.
- Cover and cook for another 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until carrots are tender and glaze has thickened.
- Uncover and cook 1–2 more minutes for a stickier glaze, if desired.
- Adjust seasoning and garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
Notes
- Can be made vegan by substituting butter with vegan margarine.
- Add a splash of orange juice or zest for a citrus twist.
