Ingredients
-
3 cups semisweet chocolate chips
-
1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
-
1/4 cup unsalted butter
-
1 tsp vanilla extract
-
1/4 tsp salt
-
1 cup chopped pecans
-
1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
-
1/2 cup evaporated milk
-
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
-
1/4 cup unsalted butter (for topping)
-
2 large egg yolks
Instructions
-
Prepare the pan: Line an 8×8-inch or 9×9-inch baking dish with parchment paper and set aside.
-
Make the chocolate base: In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, 1/4 cup butter, vanilla extract, and salt. Stir continuously until smooth and fully melted.
-
Pour and spread: Pour the chocolate mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
-
Make the coconut-pecan topping: In a separate saucepan, combine evaporated milk, brown sugar, 1/4 cup butter, and egg yolks. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens (about 10–12 minutes).
-
Add coconut and pecans: Remove from heat and stir in shredded coconut and chopped pecans.
-
Top the fudge: Spread the coconut-pecan mixture evenly over the fudge base.
-
Chill: Refrigerate the fudge for at least 3 hours or until firm.
-
Serve: Once set, cut into squares and enjoy!
Notes
-
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week.
-
For cleaner cuts, use a warm knife.
-
Toasting the pecans adds an extra layer of flavor.
