Description

Garlic Parmesan Orzo is a creamy, flavorful side dish made with orzo pasta, garlic, and freshly grated Parmesan cheese. It’s quick to prepare and pairs well with a variety of main dishes.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream (optional for extra creaminess)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  3. Stir in the orzo and cook for 2-3 minutes until lightly toasted.
  4. Add the broth and bring to a boil.
  5. Reduce heat to a simmer, cover, and cook for about 10 minutes or until the orzo is tender and the liquid is mostly absorbed.
  6. Stir in the Parmesan cheese and heavy cream (if using) until creamy and well combined.
  7. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian version, use vegetable broth instead of chicken broth.
  • Adjust the creaminess by adding more or less heavy cream.
  • Great as a side dish with grilled chicken, fish, or vegetables.
