- 1 cup orzo pasta
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups chicken or vegetable broth
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup heavy cream (optional for extra creaminess)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon chopped parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- Stir in the orzo and cook for 2-3 minutes until lightly toasted.
- Add the broth and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat to a simmer, cover, and cook for about 10 minutes or until the orzo is tender and the liquid is mostly absorbed.
- Stir in the Parmesan cheese and heavy cream (if using) until creamy and well combined.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
Notes
- For a vegetarian version, use vegetable broth instead of chicken broth.
- Adjust the creaminess by adding more or less heavy cream.
- Great as a side dish with grilled chicken, fish, or vegetables.
