Scale
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup grated Asiago cheese
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Fresh parsley, chopped (optional for garnish)
Instructions
- Season chicken breasts with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear chicken for 5-6 minutes per side or until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add butter and sauté garlic until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- Whisk in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes to form a roux.
- Gradually whisk in chicken broth and heavy cream until smooth.
- Stir in Asiago cheese and Italian seasoning. Cook until cheese is melted and gravy is thickened, about 3-5 minutes.
- Return the chicken to the skillet and spoon the gravy over the top. Simmer for 2-3 minutes to reheat.
- Garnish with chopped parsley and serve hot over mashed potatoes, pasta, or rice.
Notes
- For extra flavor, deglaze the pan with a splash of white wine before adding the flour.
- Asiago can be substituted with Parmesan if preferred.
- Double the gravy if serving over pasta for a saucier dish.
