- 1 loaf of frozen bread dough, thawed
- 1/2 lb ground beef
- 1/2 lb Italian sausage
- 1/2 cup diced onions
- 1/2 cup diced green bell peppers
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup marinara or pizza sauce
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and Italian sausage until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Add onions and bell peppers to the skillet and sauté until softened. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
- Roll out the bread dough on a floured surface into a rectangle, about 1/4 inch thick.
- Spread marinara sauce over the dough, leaving a border around the edges.
- Layer the meat and vegetable mixture evenly over the sauce.
- Top with mozzarella, cheddar, and Parmesan cheeses.
- Roll the dough tightly like a jelly roll and pinch the edges to seal.
- Place the rolled dough seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Brush with beaten egg.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Let cool slightly before slicing and serving.
Notes
- You can substitute or add any leftover meats, vegetables, or cheeses.
- Serve with extra marinara sauce for dipping.
- Can be made ahead and reheated.
