- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 1/2 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened (for filling)
- 1/2 cup rainbow sprinkles (plus more for topping)
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened (for frosting)
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2–3 tbsp milk
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- Mix in sugar, melted butter, egg, and salt. Gradually add flour until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for about 5 minutes, then cover and let it rise for 1 hour until doubled.
- Roll the dough into a rectangle. Spread with softened butter, sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon evenly, then add sprinkles.
- Roll up tightly and cut into 12 rolls. Place in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
- For frosting, beat cream cheese and butter until smooth. Add powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until desired consistency.
- Spread frosting on warm rolls and top with extra sprinkles before serving.
Notes
- Make sure the milk is warm, not hot, to activate the yeast properly.
- Use gel-based sprinkles to avoid color bleeding in the dough.
- These rolls can be made the night before and baked in the morning.
