Description

These Funfetti Cinnamon Rolls are a fun and colorful twist on the classic breakfast treat, featuring a soft, fluffy dough filled with a sweet cinnamon-sugar mix and topped with a vibrant funfetti glaze.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 1/2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened (for filling)
  • 1/2 cup rainbow sprinkles (plus more for topping)
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened (for frosting)
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 23 tbsp milk

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Mix in sugar, melted butter, egg, and salt. Gradually add flour until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough for about 5 minutes, then cover and let it rise for 1 hour until doubled.
  4. Roll the dough into a rectangle. Spread with softened butter, sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon evenly, then add sprinkles.
  5. Roll up tightly and cut into 12 rolls. Place in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. For frosting, beat cream cheese and butter until smooth. Add powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until desired consistency.
  8. Spread frosting on warm rolls and top with extra sprinkles before serving.

Notes

  • Make sure the milk is warm, not hot, to activate the yeast properly.
  • Use gel-based sprinkles to avoid color bleeding in the dough.
  • These rolls can be made the night before and baked in the morning.
