- 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup (40g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup (65g) all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup (90g) semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease or line an 8×8-inch (20×20 cm) baking pan with parchment paper.
- Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over low heat or in the microwave. Remove from heat and stir in sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract.
- Whisk in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Fold in chocolate chips if using.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Allow to cool in the pan before cutting into squares and serving.
Notes
- Do not overbake if you prefer a gooier texture.
- You can add chopped nuts for extra crunch.
- Brownies can be stored in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
