Description
Frozen yogurt is a creamy, tangy, and refreshing dessert that’s lighter than traditional ice cream but just as satisfying. Easily customizable and perfect for warm weather or a guilt-free treat.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups plain Greek yogurt
- 1/4 to 1/3 cup honey or maple syrup (to taste)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp lemon juice (optional)
- 1/2 cup fruit puree or mix-ins (optional)
Instructions
- Line a mixing bowl with cheesecloth or paper towel. Add the yogurt and let it strain in the refrigerator for 2-4 hours to remove excess liquid.
- Transfer the strained yogurt to a large bowl. Stir in honey or maple syrup, vanilla extract, and lemon juice if using. Mix until smooth.
- Taste and adjust sweetness if necessary.
- Fold in fruit puree or mix-ins if desired.
- Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker. Churn according to manufacturer’s instructions (usually 20-25 minutes) until it reaches soft-serve consistency.
- Transfer to a freezer-safe container and freeze for 2-3 hours for a firmer texture.
- Scoop and serve with your favorite toppings.
Notes
- Use flavored yogurt for extra flavor without mix-ins.
- Add swirls of preserves, chocolate chips, or crushed cookies for texture.
- Blend in matcha, cocoa, or instant coffee for unique variations.
- For a dairy-free version, use plant-based yogurt and sweeteners.
