1 cup strawberries, chopped
-
8 oz cream cheese, softened
-
1/4 cup granulated sugar
-
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
-
1 egg
-
1/4 cup milk
-
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
-
1/2 cup graham cracker crumbs (optional for coating)
-
Oil for frying
-
Powdered sugar, for dusting
-
Whipped cream or extra strawberries (optional for serving)
Instructions
-
In a medium bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
-
Gently fold in the chopped strawberries.
-
Roll each slice of bread flat using a rolling pin.
-
Spoon a tablespoon of the cheesecake filling onto one side of the bread slice, then fold it over and press the edges to seal. You can use a fork to crimp the edges closed.
-
In a shallow bowl, whisk together the egg and milk.
-
Dip each sandwich first in flour, then into the egg mixture, and finally into the graham cracker crumbs (if using).
-
Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
-
Fry the sandwiches for 1–2 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy.
-
Remove and drain on paper towels.
-
Dust with powdered sugar and serve warm with extra strawberries or whipped cream.
Notes
-
Make sure to seal the edges well to avoid filling leakage during frying.
-
You can prep these ahead and fry right before serving for best texture.
-
Try other berries or even chocolate chips for fun variations.
