Description

Fresno Poppers are a spicy and cheesy appetizer made by stuffing Fresno chili peppers with a creamy cheese filling, then baking or grilling them to perfection.


Ingredients

  • 10 Fresno chili peppers
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 10 slices of bacon (optional, for wrapping)
  • Cooking spray or oil (for baking or grilling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) or heat grill to medium-high.
  2. Cut a slit down the side of each Fresno pepper and remove seeds and membranes.
  3. In a bowl, mix cream cheese, shredded cheddar, green onions, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Stuff each pepper with the cheese mixture.
  5. Optional: Wrap each stuffed pepper with a slice of bacon and secure with toothpicks.
  6. Place peppers on a baking sheet or grill.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes or grill for 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until bacon is crisp and peppers are tender.
  8. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Use gloves when handling chili peppers to avoid irritation.
  • Substitute Fresno peppers with jalapeños for a different heat level.
  • Can be prepared ahead and refrigerated before baking or grilling.
