Description

Savory and cheesy French Dip Sliders made with roast beef, Swiss cheese, and caramelized onions on slider buns, served with a flavorful au jus dipping sauce.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 12 slider buns
  • 1 lb deli roast beef, thinly sliced
  • 12 slices Swiss cheese
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 packet au jus mix
  • 2 cups water (for au jus)
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise (optional)
  • 2 tbsp melted butter (for brushing buns)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dried parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil and 2 tbsp butter over medium heat. Add sliced onions and sauté until caramelized, about 15-20 minutes.
  3. While onions cook, prepare au jus according to packet instructions using 2 cups water and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer and keep warm.
  4. Place the bottom halves of the slider buns in a greased baking dish.
  5. Layer with roast beef, caramelized onions, and Swiss cheese. Add a thin layer of mayo if desired.
  6. Top with the other half of the buns.
  7. Mix melted butter with garlic powder and parsley, then brush over the tops of the buns.
  8. Cover with foil and bake for 15 minutes, then uncover and bake an additional 5 minutes until tops are golden and cheese is melted.
  9. Serve warm with the au jus dipping sauce on the side.

Notes

  • Use Hawaiian sweet rolls for a touch of sweetness.
  • For added flavor, toast the buns before assembling.
  • Customize with provolone or mozzarella cheese instead of Swiss.
