Description
Fireball Chicken is a sweet, spicy, and sticky chicken dish made with Fireball whiskey, brown sugar, and hot sauce. It’s perfect for a bold and flavorful dinner or party appetizer.
Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1/2 cup Fireball whiskey
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp hot sauce (like Frank’s RedHot)
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp water (for slurry)
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Green onions and sesame seeds for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Season chicken pieces with salt and pepper.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken and cook until browned and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, combine Fireball whiskey, brown sugar, ketchup, soy sauce, hot sauce, vinegar, and garlic powder. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
- In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Stir it into the sauce and cook until thickened, about 2-3 minutes.
- Return chicken to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until everything is heated through.
- Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds if desired. Serve hot over rice or as an appetizer.
Notes
- You can adjust the amount of hot sauce to make it milder or spicier.
- Chicken breast can be used instead of thighs if preferred.
- This dish pairs well with steamed rice or roasted vegetables.
