Description

Fireball Chicken is a sweet, spicy, and sticky chicken dish made with Fireball whiskey, brown sugar, and hot sauce. It’s perfect for a bold and flavorful dinner or party appetizer.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/2 cup Fireball whiskey
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp hot sauce (like Frank’s RedHot)
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp water (for slurry)
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Green onions and sesame seeds for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Season chicken pieces with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken and cook until browned and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, combine Fireball whiskey, brown sugar, ketchup, soy sauce, hot sauce, vinegar, and garlic powder. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
  4. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Stir it into the sauce and cook until thickened, about 2-3 minutes.
  5. Return chicken to the skillet and toss to coat in the sauce. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until everything is heated through.
  6. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds if desired. Serve hot over rice or as an appetizer.

Notes

  • You can adjust the amount of hot sauce to make it milder or spicier.
  • Chicken breast can be used instead of thighs if preferred.
  • This dish pairs well with steamed rice or roasted vegetables.
