Description

Egg in a Hole is a simple and classic breakfast dish where an egg is cooked in the center of a slice of bread until perfectly set.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 slice of bread
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Use a round cutter or glass to cut a hole in the center of the bread slice.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add butter.
  3. Place the bread slice in the skillet and cook for 1 minute.
  4. Crack the egg into the hole in the bread.
  5. Cook until the egg is set on the bottom, about 2-3 minutes.
  6. Flip the bread and cook the other side for another 1-2 minutes, or until the egg is cooked to your desired doneness.
  7. Season with salt and pepper.
  8. Serve hot, optionally toasting the cut-out bread circle on the side.

Notes

  • Use fresh eggs for the best results.
  • You can add cheese or herbs for extra flavor.
  • Whole grain bread adds extra fiber and nutrients.
