- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda

- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 large egg

- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 cup marshmallow fluff
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened (for filling)
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for filling)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for filling)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, beat the butter and brown sugar until fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla extract and mix well.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the buttermilk. Mix until combined.
- Drop tablespoonfuls of batter onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the cakes spring back when lightly pressed. Let them cool completely.
- For the filling, beat the butter and marshmallow fluff together until smooth. Add powdered sugar and vanilla extract and beat until fluffy.
- Spread the filling on the flat side of half the cakes and top with the remaining cakes to form sandwiches.

- Store whoopie pies in an airtight container to keep them moist.
- You can add flavor variations like peppermint or peanut butter to the filling.
- Chilling the filling slightly can make spreading easier.
