Description

  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 baguette or rustic Italian bread, sliced into 1/2-inch pieces
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or melted butter (for brushing)
  • (Optional) Balsamic glaze for drizzling

Instructions

  1. Dice the tomatoes and place them in a bowl. Add minced garlic, chopped basil, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine and let sit for 10–15 minutes to develop flavors.
  2. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Slice the baguette into 1/2-inch slices and brush each side with olive oil or melted butter.
  3. Arrange the bread slices on a baking sheet and toast in the oven for 5–7 minutes or until golden and crisp.
  4. Spoon the tomato mixture onto the toasted bread slices just before serving.
  5. (Optional) Drizzle with balsamic glaze for extra flavor.
