Description

Easy Stuffed Manicotti is a classic Italian-American dish featuring pasta tubes filled with a savory cheese mixture, topped with marinara sauce and baked to perfection. It’s a comforting and satisfying meal that’s simple to prepare.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 14 manicotti shells
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (or 1 tbsp dried)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (for cooking pasta)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add manicotti shells and cook for 6–7 minutes until al dente. Drain and drizzle with olive oil to prevent sticking.
  3. In a large bowl, combine ricotta cheese, 1 1/2 cups mozzarella, Parmesan, egg, parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  4. Using a spoon or piping bag, fill each manicotti shell with the cheese mixture.
  5. Spread 1 cup of marinara sauce in the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  6. Arrange stuffed manicotti shells in a single layer over the sauce.
  7. Top with remaining marinara sauce and sprinkle with the remaining 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese.
  8. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 10 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Garnish with extra parsley if desired and serve warm.

Notes

  • You can prepare this dish ahead and refrigerate before baking.
  • Try adding cooked spinach or ground beef to the cheese mixture for variation.
  • Use a piping bag or zip-top bag with the tip cut off for easier filling of the shells.
