- 2–3 tablespoons milk or cream (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cloves, and salt.
- Cut in cold butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together pumpkin purée, heavy cream, egg, and vanilla extract.
- Add wet mixture to dry ingredients and stir just until combined—do not overmix.
- Turn dough onto floured surface and gently shape into a 1-inch thick circle.
- Cut circle into 8 wedges using a sharp knife or bench scraper.
- Place wedges on prepared baking sheet, spaced slightly apart.
- Bake 15–18 minutes or until golden and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Let scones cool slightly before glazing.
- For glaze: whisk powdered sugar with milk or cream until smooth. Drizzle over warm scones.
