- 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter
- 1 1/4 cups (250g) granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup (100g) brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 1/4 cups (280g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp matcha green tea powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
Instructions
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat until it turns golden brown and gives off a nutty aroma. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the brown butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Beat until well combined.
- Add the eggs and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and creamy.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, matcha powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Cover the dough and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto the baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden. Centers should still look soft.
- Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
