Description

These Easy Matcha Cookies are made extra rich and flavorful with brown butter, giving a nutty depth that pairs perfectly with the earthy taste of matcha.


Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter
  • 3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 cups (160g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons matcha powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, brown the butter over medium heat until golden and fragrant. Let it cool slightly.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the browned butter and sugar. Beat until well mixed.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together flour, matcha powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.
  6. Cover and chill the dough for 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  8. Roll the dough into balls and place them on the baking sheet, spacing them apart.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  10. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
