Description

This Easy Homemade Salsa is fresh, zesty, and way better than store-bought! Packed with ripe tomatoes, onion, jalapeño, cilantro, and lime, it’s quick to make and perfect for dipping, topping tacos, or adding flavor to any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 5 ripe Roma tomatoes, diced
  • 1/2 medium red onion, finely diced
  • 1 jalapeño or serrano pepper, seeded and minced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 2 tbsp fresh lime juice (about 1 lime)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 tsp ground cumin (optional)

Instructions

  1. Dice the tomatoes, onion, and jalapeño. Mince the garlic and chop the cilantro.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine all the ingredients. Add lime juice, salt, pepper, and cumin if using.
  3. Stir until well mixed. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
  4. For a smoother salsa, pulse the mixture a few times in a food processor until desired consistency is reached.
  5. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors develop.

Notes

  • Add diced avocado for extra creaminess.
  • Use fire-roasted tomatoes for a smoky twist.
  • Mix in corn or black beans for more texture.
  • Add a pinch of sugar if your tomatoes are very acidic.
