Instructions
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Whisk in the flour and cook for 1–2 minutes to form a roux.
- Gradually whisk in the milk and continue cooking until the mixture thickens, about 3–5 minutes.
- Add the frozen peas and stir to combine.
- Season with salt, pepper, and sugar if using.
- Cook for another 5 minutes, or until peas are tender and heated through.
- Serve warm.
Notes
- Use fresh peas when in season for a fresher flavor.
- For extra richness, substitute half of the milk with cream.
