Ingredients

- 1 1/2 cups water
- 2 black tea bags or 2 tsp loose black tea
- 1 1/2 cups whole milk (or dairy-free alternative)
- 1–2 tbsp honey or maple syrup, to taste
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground ginger
- 1/4 tsp ground cardamom
- 1/8 tsp ground cloves
- 1/8 tsp ground black pepper
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, bring water to a boil and add the black tea.
- Reduce heat and simmer for 3-5 minutes.
- Stir in milk, spices, sweetener, and vanilla extract.
- Simmer for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Strain through a fine mesh sieve to remove tea leaves and spice particles.
- Pour into mugs and enjoy hot.
Notes
- Use chai tea bags instead of loose black tea for convenience.
- Try brown sugar or agave syrup for different sweetness.
- Add a shot of espresso for a Dirty Chai Latte.
- Top with frothed milk or whipped cream for extra richness.
