Description

A rich and creamy butterscotch sauce made with just a few simple ingredients, perfect for drizzling over desserts like ice cream, cakes, and puddings.


Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
  2. Add the brown sugar and salt, stirring constantly until the mixture is combined and begins to bubble.
  3. Slowly stir in the heavy cream and bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
  4. Continue to cook for 4–5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. Let cool slightly before serving or storing.

Notes

  • The sauce will thicken as it cools.
