- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
- Add the brown sugar and salt, stirring constantly until the mixture is combined and begins to bubble.
- Slowly stir in the heavy cream and bring the mixture to a gentle boil.
- Continue to cook for 4–5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- Let cool slightly before serving or storing.
Notes
- The sauce will thicken as it cools.
