Scale
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon sea salt
- Fresh fruit (e.g., strawberries, bananas, apple slices)
- Mini marshmallows
- Cubed pound cake or angel food cake
- Biscuits or cookies (optional, for dipping)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine the sweetened condensed milk, heavy cream, and butter. Heat over medium heat, stirring frequently, until the butter has melted and the mixture is smooth.
- Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, then reduce the heat to low. Continue stirring for 2-3 minutes until it thickens slightly.
- Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and sea salt.
- Transfer the fondue mixture to a fondue pot to keep warm, or serve directly in a small bowl.
- Serve with your choice of fresh fruit, marshmallows, cake cubes, and cookies for dipping.
Notes
- If you prefer a thicker consistency, let the fondue simmer a bit longer to reduce it.
- You can use dulce de leche (pre-made) instead of sweetened condensed milk for a more intense caramel flavor.
- This fondue can be made ahead and reheated gently before serving.
