Description
A rich and comforting creamy sausage pasta made with Italian sausage, garlic, cream, and parmesan. Perfect for a quick weeknight dinner.

- 12 oz pasta (penne or rigatoni)
- 1 lb Italian sausage, casings removed
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion and cook until translucent, about 3 minutes.
- Add the sausage to the skillet. Cook and break it up with a spoon until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add garlic and red pepper flakes (if using) and sauté for 1 minute.
- Pour in chicken broth and simmer for 2-3 minutes.
- Stir in heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer. Let cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add Parmesan cheese and stir until melted and sauce is smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Add the cooked pasta to the sauce and toss to coat evenly.
- Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.
Notes
- You can use spicy sausage for extra heat.
- For a lighter version, substitute half-and-half for heavy cream.
- Great with a side of garlic bread or a green salad.
