Description

A rich and comforting creamy sausage pasta made with Italian sausage, garlic, cream, and parmesan. Perfect for a quick weeknight dinner.


Ingredients

  • 12 oz pasta (penne or rigatoni)
  • 1 lb Italian sausage, casings removed
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion and cook until translucent, about 3 minutes.
  3. Add the sausage to the skillet. Cook and break it up with a spoon until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Add garlic and red pepper flakes (if using) and sauté for 1 minute.
  5. Pour in chicken broth and simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Stir in heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer. Let cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. Add Parmesan cheese and stir until melted and sauce is smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Add the cooked pasta to the sauce and toss to coat evenly.
  9. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.

Notes

  • You can use spicy sausage for extra heat.
  • For a lighter version, substitute half-and-half for heavy cream.
  • Great with a side of garlic bread or a green salad.
