Description

A rich and creamy sausage pasta recipe that’s quick to make and full of flavor, perfect for a comforting weeknight dinner.


Ingredients

  • 8 oz pasta (penne or rigatoni)
  • 1 lb Italian sausage (casings removed)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1/2 cup onion (diced)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 cups spinach (optional)
  • Fresh parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add sausage and cook until browned, breaking it into small pieces.
  3. Add onion and garlic to the skillet and sauté until softened.
  4. Stir in chicken broth and heavy cream. Bring to a simmer.
  5. Add Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes. Stir until cheese melts and sauce thickens slightly.
  6. Add cooked pasta and spinach (if using) to the skillet. Toss to coat in the sauce.
  7. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Cook for 2-3 more minutes until everything is heated through.
  8. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

  • Use spicy sausage for an extra kick.
  • Substitute spinach with kale or arugula if preferred.
  • Reserve some pasta water to thin the sauce if needed.
  • Top with extra Parmesan for more flavor.
