Ingredients
-
8 oz cream cheese, softened
-
2 green onions, finely chopped
-
1 tsp garlic powder
-
1/2 tsp salt
-
1/4 tsp black pepper
-
24 wonton wrappers
-
Water (for sealing wrappers)
-
Vegetable oil (for frying)
Instructions
-
In a bowl, mix cream cheese, green onions, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until smooth.
-
Place a wonton wrapper on a flat surface. Add about 1 tsp of the filling to the center.
-
Dip your finger in water and run it along the edges of the wrapper. Fold the wrapper into a triangle or bring all corners to the center to seal tightly. Press edges to ensure it’s sealed well.
-
Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot over medium-high heat (about 350°F).
-
Fry wontons in batches, 2–3 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.
-
Remove with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
-
Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
-
Make sure the cream cheese is at room temperature for easy mixing.
-
You can freeze uncooked wontons on a baking sheet, then store in a zip-top bag for later use.
-
Try adding a little sriracha or chopped crab meat to the filling for a twist.
