Description

These crispy cream cheese wontons are a delicious appetizer that’s easy to make at home. Filled with a creamy, savory filling and wrapped in a crunchy wonton shell, they’re perfect for parties, game day, or just a fun snack. Serve them with sweet chili sauce or soy sauce for dipping!

Ingredients

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened

  • 2 green onions, finely chopped

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

  • 24 wonton wrappers

  • Water (for sealing wrappers)

  • Vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions

  • In a bowl, mix cream cheese, green onions, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until smooth.

  • Place a wonton wrapper on a flat surface. Add about 1 tsp of the filling to the center.

  • Dip your finger in water and run it along the edges of the wrapper. Fold the wrapper into a triangle or bring all corners to the center to seal tightly. Press edges to ensure it’s sealed well.

  • Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot over medium-high heat (about 350°F).

  • Fry wontons in batches, 2–3 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.

  • Remove with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.

  • Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Make sure the cream cheese is at room temperature for easy mixing.

  • You can freeze uncooked wontons on a baking sheet, then store in a zip-top bag for later use.

  • Try adding a little sriracha or chopped crab meat to the filling for a twist.
