Description
Crispy cream cheese wontons are a delicious appetizer made with a creamy filling wrapped in a crunchy wonton shell and deep-fried to golden perfection.

- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 2 green onions, finely chopped
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp sugar
- 20 wonton wrappers
- 1 egg, beaten (for sealing)
- Vegetable oil, for frying
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine cream cheese, green onions, garlic, salt, and sugar until smooth.
- Place a wonton wrapper on a clean surface. Spoon about 1 teaspoon of filling into the center.
- Brush the edges with beaten egg and fold into a triangle, pressing to seal. Optionally bring corners together and seal with egg to form a pouch shape.
- Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling.
- Heat oil in a deep skillet or pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry wontons in batches for 2–3 minutes or until golden brown, turning as needed.
- Remove and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with sweet and sour sauce or dipping sauce of choice.
Notes
- Ensure the edges are well sealed to prevent leaking during frying.
- You can freeze uncooked wontons and fry them straight from the freezer.
- Try adding crab meat or chopped shrimp for variation.
