Cream Cheese Wontons are a crispy, creamy appetizer made with seasoned cream cheese wrapped in wonton wrappers and fried to golden perfection. A restaurant-style treat that’s easy to make at home.

- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 green onion, finely chopped
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 24 wonton wrappers
- 1 egg, beaten (for sealing)
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- Sweet and sour sauce or soy sauce for dipping (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, mix cream cheese, green onion, garlic powder, and salt until well combined.
- Place a wonton wrapper on a clean surface. Add about 1 teaspoon of filling to the center.
- Brush edges with beaten egg, then fold and seal the wonton into a triangle or a pouch, pressing out air and sealing tightly.
- Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling.
- Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry wontons in batches for 2–3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Do not overcrowd the pan.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Serve hot with dipping sauce if desired.
Notes
- Wontons can be assembled ahead of time and refrigerated until ready to fry.
- Air fryer or oven-baked versions are possible for a lighter option.
- Add a pinch of sugar or minced crab meat for variation.
