Description
A nostalgic, sweet-tart dessert salad made with fresh cranberries, crushed pineapple, fluffy marshmallows, and creamy whipped topping. A festive classic for the holidays!
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups fresh cranberries, finely chopped
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 (20 oz) can crushed pineapple, drained
- 2 cups mini marshmallows
- 2 cups whipped topping (like Cool Whip)
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine the chopped cranberries and granulated sugar. Mix well, cover, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight to allow the cranberries to sweeten.
- After chilling, add the drained crushed pineapple and mini marshmallows to the cranberry mixture. Stir to combine.
- Fold in the whipped topping until everything is evenly coated and fluffy.
- If using, gently stir in chopped pecans or walnuts.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving to allow the salad to set.
- Serve chilled as a sweet side dish or dessert.
Notes
- Add chopped apples or grapes for extra crunch and flavor.
- Swap pecans for walnuts, or omit the nuts for a nut-free version.
- Mix in shredded coconut for more sweetness and texture.
- Use homemade whipped cream instead of store-bought topping for a lighter option.
