Description

A warm and comforting dessert combining tart cranberries and sweet apples topped with a buttery oat crisp topping.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 4 cups apples, peeled and sliced
  • 2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine apples, cranberries, granulated sugar, 1 tbsp flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Mix well and spread in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix oats, 1/2 cup flour, brown sugar, salt, and melted butter until crumbly.
  4. Sprinkle the oat mixture evenly over the fruit.
  5. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden and the fruit is bubbling.
  6. Allow to cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream if desired.

Notes

  • You can use a mix of apple varieties for more depth of flavor.
  • Frozen cranberries do not need to be thawed before baking.
  • Add chopped nuts to the topping for extra crunch.
