Description

A rich and aromatic sauce featuring bold coffee flavor, perfect for drizzling over desserts or using as a savory glaze.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup brewed strong coffee or 2 shots of espresso
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
  • 1 tablespoon water (for cornstarch slurry, optional)

Instructions

  1. Brew strong coffee or espresso and set aside.
  2. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine coffee and brown sugar. Stir until sugar is dissolved.
  3. Add heavy cream and butter. Continue stirring until butter melts and the mixture is smooth.
  4. Simmer gently for 5–7 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.
  5. If desired, mix cornstarch with water and stir into the sauce. Cook for an additional 1–2 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.
  7. Let the sauce cool slightly before serving or transferring to a jar.

Notes

  • Add bourbon or whiskey for a boozy version.
  • Substitute coconut cream for a dairy-free option.
  • Add cinnamon or nutmeg for added warmth.
  • Use maple syrup instead of brown sugar for a different flavor.
