Description

Classic Ambrosia Salad is a creamy, fruit-filled dessert made with a mixture of tropical fruits, marshmallows, and whipped topping, perfect for potlucks and holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup whipped topping (like Cool Whip)
  • 1 can (11 oz) mandarin oranges, drained
  • 1 can (8 oz) pineapple chunks, drained
  • 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
  • 1 1/2 cups mini marshmallows
  • 1/2 cup chopped maraschino cherries, drained
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the sour cream and whipped topping until well blended.
  2. Gently fold in the mandarin oranges, pineapple chunks, shredded coconut, mini marshmallows, maraschino cherries, and nuts if using.
  3. Mix until all ingredients are evenly coated with the creamy mixture.
  4. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight for best flavor and texture.
  5. Stir before serving and garnish with additional cherries or coconut if desired.

Notes

  • Ambrosia salad can be made a day ahead and stored in the refrigerator.
  • For a lighter version, use low-fat sour cream and whipped topping.
  • Make sure to drain fruits well to avoid a watery salad.
