Description

Classic Ambrosia Salad is a light, creamy fruit salad featuring a medley of tropical fruits, mini marshmallows, and whipped cream, often served as a sweet side dish or dessert.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup whipped topping (like Cool Whip)
  • 1 can (15 oz) mandarin oranges, drained
  • 1 can (20 oz) pineapple chunks, drained
  • 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
  • 1 1/2 cups mini marshmallows
  • 3/4 cup maraschino cherries, drained and halved
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, fold together the sour cream and whipped topping until well combined.
  2. Add the mandarin oranges, pineapple chunks, shredded coconut, mini marshmallows, cherries, and pecans if using.
  3. Gently mix until all ingredients are evenly coated with the creamy mixture.
  4. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight to allow flavors to meld.
  5. Stir gently before serving. Serve chilled.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, use light sour cream and light whipped topping.
  • Add or substitute fruits like grapes, apples, or bananas for variety.
  • Best served chilled and within 1–2 days for optimal texture and flavor.
