- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips, divided
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup toffee bits, divided (like Heath Bits O’ Brickle)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
- Gradually mix in dry ingredients until just combined.
- Fold in half of the chocolate chips and half of the toffee bits.
- Press about two-thirds of the cookie dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan.
- In a small saucepan over low heat, combine sweetened condensed milk and remaining chocolate chips. Stir until chocolate is melted and mixture is smooth.
- Spread fudge layer evenly over cookie dough base.
- Drop small spoonfuls of remaining cookie dough on top of the fudge layer and gently spread it out.
- Sprinkle remaining toffee bits over the top.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until edges are golden brown and center is set.
- Cool completely in the pan before cutting into bars.
Notes
- Use dark chocolate chips for a deeper flavor.
- Add chopped nuts for extra crunch.
- Sprinkle flaky sea salt on top for a sweet-and-salty finish.
- Swap toffee bits for chopped caramel candies for a twist.
