Ingredients
Scale
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 1/4 cups milk
- 1 large egg
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips
- Butter or oil, for cooking
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk together milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined; do not overmix.
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
- Heat a nonstick skillet or griddle over medium heat and lightly grease with butter or oil.
- Pour 1/4 cup of batter onto the skillet for each pancake.
- Cook until bubbles form on the surface and the edges look set, about 2-3 minutes. Flip and cook another 1-2 minutes until golden brown on the other side.
- Repeat with remaining batter, adding more butter or oil as needed.
- Serve warm with extra chocolate chips, butter, and maple syrup.
Notes
- Use mini chocolate chips for more even distribution.
- Add sliced bananas or strawberries for extra flavor.
- Sprinkle with powdered sugar for extra sweetness.
- Use whole wheat flour for a slightly healthier version.
