- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, beat softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until creamy.
- Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then stir in vanilla extract.
- Gradually mix in the flour mixture until just combined.
- Stir in chocolate chips and nuts if using.
- Drop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 9–11 minutes or until golden brown around the edges.
- Cool on baking sheet for 2 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
Notes

- Chill dough for 30 minutes for thicker cookies.
- Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
